An efficient and affordable form of tree stump removal
Tree stumps can take up considerable space, look unsightly and can lead to development and spread of fungal infections, such as Honey Fungus or suckering (regrowth). They also attract bees, wasps, and other insects, to nest in. They can become a safety hazard for slip and fall injuries and cause serious, expensive damage to grass cutting machinery.
Using our specialist machine, the stump is cut up into woodchips by a series of carbide tipped teeth which are fitted to a fast spinning, metal wheel. The stump is ‘ground’ down to a minimum of 10 inches below the surrounding ground level. This then enables the area to be re-used for future planting, re-seeding, building over etc.
Removing the stump prevents re-growth and eliminates the possibility of fungal growth. On completion of stump grinding, the hole left from the stump, will be filled with the grinding chippings, which were produced during the grinding process. These can be utilized around the garden, for mulching flower/shrub beds, on paths etc.

FAQS
What is a stump grinder?
A stump grinder is essentially a belt driven, gas powered machine with a spinning wheel at the business end. This wheel is covered in carbide-tipped replaceable teeth that grind out the stump as the wheel spins and moves from side to side.
Why remove a stump?
Stump grinding is done so the lawn can re-grow where the stump used to be, and so the lawn mower blades aren’t compromised. In flower beds, stump grinding is mostly aesthetic, but can also help keep the carpenter ant and termite populations down from exposed and rotting stump wood. Also, cedar stumps can take many years to break down due to the rot-resistant tannins in the wood, so many people opt to have them ground out regardless of location.
Can another tree be planted in the same spot?
Can a stump be ground down below the ground to allow for re-planting?
